Sticks and Stones Camp (6/20/2016)

Day One (10 - 12 year old camp):

Today marked the start of Sticks and Stones second summer hosting youth mountain bike camps. The weather was perfect and the riders were all ready to rip up the trails as soon as we met this morning. It was great to see some new faces and a lot of returning faces from last year and see how a year of growth increased their strength and confidence on their bikes.

We began the day doing our usual bike safety check and then proceeded to work on skill work before we headed out on our free ride.  The free ride today was a lot of fun and the mountain bikers all seemed to like the new set up for how we operate our group free ride.

The day finished out with a King of the Hill challenge.  You can see in most of the pictures below how the mountain bikers had to work hard to reach the top of a tricky hill.  This hill is a perfect way to finish the day because it forced the riders to use a variety of the techniques we went over throughout the morning.

Great riding today, it ranked up there as one of the best days that Bob and I could remember riding with Sticks and Stones!

We will meet at Sunset Park on Wednesday to resume day two of camp at 10:00AM!

Enjoy some of the photos from the trails today!
